Even you can't hear, you still can bike safely

Vision

It's very dangerous that without hearing anything but riding the bike, and at the same time using the navigator will enhance the risk of having accident, because if you can’t hear anything you have to always look at your phone, however under the strong sunlight you may not be able to see anything on the phone. Hence in these conditions when deaf people are turning or stopping suddenly without knowing the conditions around is very dangerous. Under these considerations on the road, the BIKE FOR DEAF is born.

 The bike can do the smart connection with your phone, the user can first tell the phone where you want to go, then the navigation will be transferred to the bike, what you need to do is riding your bike bravely. Because during riding, the bike will tell you to turn through the vibration of your grips on the corresponding side. When you have to change your direction from approaching to turn, the vibration will get stronger and stronger, making sure that the user won't turn suddenly. Through the sensor on the bike, it can distinguish coming car and people from your back where the user can’t see which are approaching and getting inside the safe region of the user, under this circumstance the bike will interact with the user through the vibration of the seat and represent the corresponding sign on the smartphone screen. So the user can have a look to the back or on the mirror and pay more attention to identify what kind of reactions he\she need to do. In advance, it will use the light and play some sounds to the environment to warn others. The user can cancel the warning if the situation is safe but the system is keeping reminding, for example, in the traffic jam. So in this way even you can’t listen to anything for knowing the surroundings, you can still enjoy your riding safely !!

Architecture

System architecture

  • The ultrasonic sensor
           located in the back of the bike to detect the movement of cars and people, and the distance between the user and surrounding objects(car and             people) 
  • Vibration motors
           1. on the seat, for sending the notification for the user about the situation in the back
           2. the vibration motors on the left and right grips, for sending the feedback to the user about turning left of right
  • Speaker, LED light
          warn the cars and people inside the unsafe zone to be careful 
  • Arduino 
          collect then information from sensors, and smart phone,then it will control the behaviour of speaker, light and vibration motors and make camera to capture picture

            set the navigation from the map, then through the google map API to provide the navigation information to the system

PURPOSE AND SCOP
The purpose of the system is to keep the deaf rider safe when they need to ride a bike.The navigator would like to inform rider through the vibration on the grips.In a simply way,right grip informs you to turn right, and left grip informs you to turn left. The vibration will get more and more stronger when you are approaching to turn. Users can not see the scenes behind them, such as a car driving and other ones riding behind. The distance sensor can sense the suddenly approach, and warn the user through the seat, also in vibration way,to keep rider in a safe round area When there is a specific situation that the user is safe but the seat is keeping vibrating. Such as user is waiting for the traffic light, cars and bikes have stopped but very close to user, he can stopped the vibration. In this way our system helps the user bike safer.
